Privacy and cookies on this site
This page says plainly what happens while you read Trades by State. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing we ask you for. We do count visits, and that is the one thing worth explaining.
What we never ask you for
Your name, your email address, your phone number, your license number, or anything about your business. There is no account to open, no newsletter to join, and no form on this site that sends us anything. If a page ever starts asking, this page will say why first.
The letter builder and the other tools run inside your own browser. What you type into them stays on your screen and is never sent to us or anyone else. Closing the page clears it.
What we count when you visit
We use Google Analytics to count visits. It tells us which pages people reach, how long they stay, which country they are in, whether they are on a phone or a computer, and which search or link brought them here. We read it to find out which pages are actually useful and which ones are not.
It does not tell us who you are. We see numbers for a whole state or a whole day, not people. Google is shown your internet address in order to work out the country, and does not pass it on to us.
Cookies the counting sets
A cookie is a small note a website leaves in your browser so it can tell a repeat visit from a new one. Google Analytics leaves one. It holds a random number, not your name, and it expires on its own. It is the only thing this site stores in your browser.
Referral links
Some links to insurance companies and business software are referral links, and we mark every one. If you follow one, that company knows you arrived from here and we may earn a commission if you buy. It costs you nothing extra. We do not send them anything about you, and they never see or change the numbers we publish.
How to switch the counting off
Any one of these works, and none of them stops the pages from working:
- Turn on your browser's tracker blocking, or add an ad blocker. Both stop the counter loading.
- Install Google's own opt-out add-on, which switches off Google Analytics on every site you visit.
- Clear your cookies for this site, or use a private window, so each visit looks like a new one.
What we never do
We do not sell information about you. We do not build a profile of you. We do not record your screen or your mouse. We do not run a second counter, and we do not follow you to other websites. The site earns its money from ads and marked referral links, and that is all.
Who this site is for
People starting out in a trade, so adults at work. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
Asking us to delete something
We hold nothing that is tied to you, so there is nothing of yours for us to look up or delete. What Google holds for us is described in Google's privacy policy, and the opt-out above stops it being collected at all.
If this page changes
We will change the date at the top and say what changed. If we ever start collecting something new, this page says so before it starts, not after.
